Senior Interhouse Sports Carnival 2019

Whilst we tried to set up the Senior Sports Carnival last term, heavy showers prevented us from going ahead. This week, on Tuesday 16 July, we successfully took a second attempt at running the carnival and the Years 3 – 6 students were able to participate in the annual Interhouse Senior Sports Day held at Wishart State School.

We had beautiful blue skies and perfect weather conditions for the variety of Track and Field events that were on offer. These events included: 800m middle distance run; house relays; 100m & 200m sprints; long jump; shot put and vortex throwing events, as well as the ball games and the tug-o-war activities. The parent and teacher water balloon tossing event proved to be an entertaining way to conclude the day, with Mrs Lourigan and Mrs Trenow claiming a win for the teachers this year.

The children displayed a remarkable level of energy, sportsmanship and spirit, while showcasing their skills and having plenty of fun in the process. They should all be super proud of themselves.

Our Congratulations go to the following girls and boys who competed for the Athletics Age Champion for 2019.

Every student earned points for their house by entering a Track or Field event on the day. All points were counted to determine which 'House' had accumulated the most points and would become the winner of the Interhouse Athletics Carnival Shield for 2019.
The results were:

4th place = Conway – 396 points
3rd place = Jagera – 471 points
2nd place = O'Shea – 531 points
1st place = Rush – 566 points
Congratulations to Red Rush – for yet another win and claiming the title for all three of the school carnivals in 2019!

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Wishart State School for their wonderful hospitality and flexibility with organising our Senior Sports Day this year. Many thanks to our groundsmen and staff who were involved in the setup and pack up of the venue. Our wonderful parent helpers should be commended, as well as our terrific teachers who helped run the events and supported the children. Once again, thank you to our office staff were very supportive with organising medical boxes and assisting with the administration of our sporting carnivals and to Shannon from Mean Brew coffee van for distributing the much-needed warm drinks throughout the day. Thank you also to Mrs Demetriou who organised a fantastic day (twice). She is truly amazing.

Finally, thank you to all of the parents, friends and family who came along to support the children and cheered them along with great encouragement and praise.
