The SES Visit Year 5

Year 5 students are learning that all Brisbane citizens can take steps to prepare for emergency situations such as storms and floods. In Writing, they will prepare a digital brochure to show a procedure to follow with their families in the event of a severe weather warning. They are learning the structure and language features of a procedure. In particular, they are learning to develop descriptive noun groups by including phrases and clauses to give further detail so that their audience understands the procedure. Images will also be included to support their audience.

To assist this learning, Belinda Q, Alyssa B's aunt, from the Logan SES unit, visited Year 5 last Thursday to talk about the floods and how we can keep ourselves safe.

Year 5 were a captive audience and asked many interesting questions. Thank you Belinda for visiting Year 5!
